Prairie View Industries, Inc.'s Bariatric panel wheelchair ramp is made up of three separate light weight ramp panels that interlock to create a ramp width of 47 ¼. Each ramp section is covered with an anti-slip traction surface that provides superior traction even if wet. The Bariatric panel ramps are constructed of aluminum with welded fabrication. The outside panels have 1 ½ curbing for safety. Because it has a solid walking surface is accommodates wheelchairs, scooters or power chairs with various week configurations. The two outside panel widths are approximately 15 wide x 6' long. The center panel measures approximately 177/8 wide x 6' long. The total weight of all three sections is 56 lbs. The Bariatric panel ramp has a maximum capacity rating of 400 lbs single axle, 800 lbs. two axles.

wling ramp that you can get your knees under!! No more bowling from the side of the ramp which makes it difficult to line up the ball.The Minnesota Ramp is specifically designed to be used with a power wheelchair. As seen in the picture, the bowler rolls up under the ramp with the front wheelchair wheels rest on the frame for stability. The ramp is easily disassemble for transporting. Specify Blue or Black.

Question : We need to build a temporary wheelchair ramp.?
Does anyone know where my dad and I can get plans for a temporary ramp? All the plans we have found involve making it a permanent part of the house. My mother just had surgery that is going to confine her to a wheelchair for only about 3 months. We need a plan that is quick to put up and take down, but will be strudy enough to last a couple months. Any links or ideas? Thanks!
Answer:
My husband built a wooden temporary ramp for my mother using 2x4's and plywood. He attached it to our deck and when she no longer needed it, he removed it. You can use any plan for a wooden wheelchair ramp but attach it to a deck or porch using screws that can be removed later.Do not use materials that make it a permanent fixture like concrete place the support studs on paving stones to keep them from sinking in the dirt and follow the rest of the plans Just use screws instead of nails so it can be removed and disasembled when no longer needed..Make sure you use something on the surface for traction and old piece of carpet or a plastic runner turned bumpy side up.

Question : what can I put on a wooden wheelchair ramp that would keep it from being so slippery when it rains and snow.?
My mother has A new wheelchair ramp she has to be pushed up and down the wheelchair ramp this ramp slopes down and is so slippery when it rain or snow that sometimes going up is difficult and coming down is even worst it's like you have on skates which frightens my mother that is blind any useful advice would be appreciated.

Basic issue is the maximum safe ramp angle. If you know the height difference then you can find the length of ramp by the following relationship:ramp length = (height change) / sin (ramp angle)suppose the height difference is 4 ft, and safe maximum ramp angle is 10 degree (I don't know this angle is correct, you need to look this up at ADA website). Then the length of ramp is:ramp length = 4 / sin 10 = 23 ft.

Question : Does anyone know of an organization that would help pay for a wheelchair ramp for a van?
I have a 9 year old son with cerebral palsy and he's getting too big for my car. I'm in the process of buying a used van, but I'm going to need a ramp put in and I don't have the money to do it. A few people said the Lions Club, or Rotary Club. But, I've never had to ask for money from an organization. I'm just not sure where to start.

Another good one is the shriners,they sponser my daughter,5yo w/cerebral palsy.We haven't gotten a van yet,and I'm not sure if they will help.If you buy a new van,both Chevy and Ford have programs that will pay up to 500 and up to 1000$ of the retrofit.I looked for my favorite's links to some site's,but could not find them.Try searching handicap accessible grant.

Question : in oregon what is the minimum slope for a wheelchair ramp?
my mother-in -law is wheelchair-bound for the rest of her life... I want to build her a ramp to allow her husband and 2 sons (they live in the same house) to let her enjoy the clean air and out-of-doors. Is there a recommended slope (inches per foot) for a wheelchair ramp NOT A HANDYCAMP RAMP? She is unable to propel herself but I feel She would bebefit from the air outside...

I built handicap ramps for FEMA after Hurricane Katrina and the federal standard then was 1 inch per foot and after each 20ft a landing was to be made for resting whether or not electric or self propelled or someone else was pushing. That standard also went for those whom needing canes or crutches to walk also. Mind you ,now these ramps where built off a deck landing right beneath the door of either a mobile home or travel trailer,so if it was 40 inches from the ground to just below the door;you were looking at 40 ft ramp with the deck landing and the 20 ft rest landing that could be a minimum of 5ftx5FT we had to take into account the width of the chair and height of the person ;in case the rest landing had to make any turns in a different direction. Say perhaps easy access to automobile. We usually used 5/8 4x8 to run the ramp stilted with 2x4 with 15 inch gaps with 2x4 hand rails and floor guide boards.

There are standards for this and I'll have a look for you. British Standard 8300 couild be the one to go for.....Section 5.8.10:Portable ramps should have a surface width of at least 800 mm, adrainable, slip-resistant surface and upstands at least 100 mm high toprevent wheelchair tyres veering off the edge5.8.2 Gradient of a rampA ramp should have the lowest practical gradient within the range 1:20 to 1:12.The gradient of a ramp flight in relation to its going should be no steeper than that shown in Table 1.Table 1....Going up: Not exceeding 2mMaximum Gradient: 1:12 which I think is a bit shallow but that is what it says

Question : Liability for having Renters Build Wheelchair Ramp?
We're renting a house that has no wheelchair accessibility. Their last house they said didn't have ramps either and that their son built them. My G/F and I, as landlords, are wondering the legality of allowing the family to build this ramp and how we can put it somewhere in the lease that avoids us from being liable 100%.Rita, thanks. By law, you must allow handicap modifications if you rent the property to someone in a wheelchair. As part of your lease, you should (for all renters) require renters insurance to cover their belongings together with any potential liability that may arise because of their tenancy. You should also require that the ramp be built to code (whatever the local laws require as far as handrails, etc.). In addition, you can require the ramp be removed upon termination of the lease.

Question : Wheelchair Ramp?
Ok, my friends mother recently suffered a mild stroke. She has had several as well as other health complications and the reality is if not now, very soon she is going to need a wheelchair ramp. She lives in Illinois, zip code 60411, and is on medicaid and medicare. I imagine if she is completely wheelchair bound the doctor would give her a prescription or something for the ramp. Anyways, just wondering where I could find some information and what the best way going about getting a wheelchair ramp would be and if medicare and medicaid would cover it, thank you.

Our church paid for someone to build my mom a ramp. If your mom belongs to a church then try contacting them. Could this also possibly be an eagle scout project?

Question : How can I build a simple, portable yet safe wheelchair ramp?
We have 4 stairs and I'd love to find a way for my sister who needs a wheelchair to come visit us. I don't need a permanant structure, she would come only 2 -3 times per year if we could get her up some kind of ramp.
