Great Ramp
I have two of these ramps that I use with a Pride Hurricane mobility scooter. They work perfectly on my three-inch rises.
Rating :
PVI 16x32 wheelchair ramp is a bargain and reliable.
I purchased this size ramp to handle wheelchair access over the two-inch threshold to our house and it has done that, but I wish now that I had selected a size longer than 16 inches in order to have a more gradual incline. I use a power wheelchair with plenty of power but have found that the chair's direction becomes a little unstable when it reaches the top of the ramp due to the slope, necessitating careful maneuvering to continue in a straight line into the house. It was easy to install, however, with the included mounting screws and seems sturdy and durable.

Solid Support
This ramp has been a godsend. We have older, disabled relatives who like to visit. Sometimes we want to have them join us for holidays . The problem is that climbing stairs is a challenge. Both my brother and my Mother in law are wheel chair bound. So I have been looking for a way of getting into my house without the major expense of redesigning the house. The portable ramp is just the ticket. At 7 ft. it is long enough to provide a gentle slope from the sidewalk into the front door - a climb over two steps and a small landing. It is also very strong. I holds a lot of weight. When I wheel one relative in, between him and myself the ramp must support over 500 pounds. The ramp is also portable. It folds in half length wise and separates into two independent tracks. Each track then folds in half and clamps together for easier storage. For me this is perfect. It is out of sight when unneeded, yet can be set up for use in less than ten minutes. A superior product,

Excellent ramp
Great ramp- I use it to load a 200 pound imaging unit into a minivan- handles easily, plenty strong, non-slip. No complaints- Amazon had it to me in one day, with no extra cost. Excellent transaction.

Excellent portable ramp
I purchased the 7 foot length of this ramp. This is an excellent ramp. Very clever design, and very well built. The fact that it will fold and separate into two sections, each with it's own handle, makes it very managable. The video is good. Safe, semi-permanent installation may require some drilling for the supplied safety pins. You should check the manufacturer's web site (search for "pviramps") for recommendations on proper ramp length for various step heights to achieve a safe installation.
Packing was good. Extra cap of cardboard around end of ramp provided extra protection in the box. Ramp is reasonably priced - and Amazon Prime shipping is a great deal for an item like this.

Damage? (I'm assuming it's from shipping)
I needed a ramp right away, but the 7' ramp delivered was very bent on one one side from what I assume was poor handling in shipping. It looked like someone had dropped it off a 10 story building. I would have returned it, but with my disability, It's too much of a hastle. Otherwise, it's a good product.

Prarie View 10 foot ramp for 2 steep porch stairs.. 21"
It's strong and practical.. folds easily though I have a wide stair and leave it up on one side. The pins pop up but not out during use.. don't trip! I might tape them down, though they don't seem necessary.
Works well in rain. I bought the 10' length for two stairs totaling a 21 inch rise. It's plain and industrial looking, not for show. I do not recommend it for solo use as it's 30" wide with no rails. I push my 270 lb mother in a extra wide 19"seat wheelchair up the ramp with no problem.
Mine was delivered in a torn open box with no invoice and a slight ding but that issue was resolved to my satisfaction. Nothing could make me return this product. It saves my back and frees my mother from stress!

We have 4 stairs and I'd love to find a way for my sister who needs a wheelchair to come visit us. I don't need a permanant structure, she would come only 2 -3 times per year if we could get her up some kind of ramp.
Answer:
if you would like to build one you can go too http://www.instructables.com/id/ECJY5ZWGOMEP286QWG/ for plans or you can buy one at http://www.portable-wheelchair-ramps.com/

Question : We need to build a temporary wheelchair ramp.?
Does anyone know where my dad and I can get plans for a temporary ramp? All the plans we have found involve making it a permanent part of the house. My mother just had surgery that is going to confine her to a wheelchair for only about 3 months. We need a plan that is quick to put up and take down, but will be strudy enough to last a couple months. Any links or ideas? Thanks!
Answer:
My husband built a wooden temporary ramp for my mother using 2x4's and plywood. He attached it to our deck and when she no longer needed it, he removed it. You can use any plan for a wooden wheelchair ramp but attach it to a deck or porch using screws that can be removed later.Do not use materials that make it a permanent fixture like concrete place the support studs on paving stones to keep them from sinking in the dirt and follow the rest of the plans Just use screws instead of nails so it can be removed and disasembled when no longer needed..Make sure you use something on the surface for traction and old piece of carpet or a plastic runner turned bumpy side up.

Question : in oregon what is the minimum slope for a wheelchair ramp?
my mother-in -law is wheelchair-bound for the rest of her life... I want to build her a ramp to allow her husband and 2 sons (they live in the same house) to let her enjoy the clean air and out-of-doors. Is there a recommended slope (inches per foot) for a wheelchair ramp NOT A HANDYCAMP RAMP? She is unable to propel herself but I feel She would bebefit from the air outside...
Answer:
I built handicap ramps for FEMA after Hurricane Katrina and the federal standard then was 1 inch per foot and after each 20ft a landing was to be made for resting whether or not electric or self propelled or someone else was pushing. That standard also went for those whom needing canes or crutches to walk also. Mind you ,now these ramps where built off a deck landing right beneath the door of either a mobile home or travel trailer,so if it was 40 inches from the ground to just below the door;you were looking at 40 ft ramp with the deck landing and the 20 ft rest landing that could be a minimum of 5ftx5FT we had to take into account the width of the chair and height of the person ;in case the rest landing had to make any turns in a different direction. Say perhaps easy access to automobile. We usually used 5/8 4x8 to run the ramp stilted with 2x4 with 15 inch gaps with 2x4 hand rails and floor guide boards.

Question : We need to get a removable wheelchair ramp for a height of 75cm, any ideas of minimum lengths?
It's hardly ever going to be used and there would be people to assist. We are just trying to work out how long it needs to be to make the gradient workable.
Answer:
There are standards for this and I'll have a look for you. British Standard 8300 couild be the one to go for.....Section 5.8.10:Portable ramps should have a surface width of at least 800 mm, adrainable, slip-resistant surface and upstands at least 100 mm high toprevent wheelchair tyres veering off the edge5.8.2 Gradient of a rampA ramp should have the lowest practical gradient within the range 1:20 to 1:12.The gradient of a ramp flight in relation to its going should be no steeper than that shown in Table 1.Table 1....Going up: Not exceeding 2mMaximum Gradient: 1:12 which I think is a bit shallow but that is what it says

Question : You need to build a wheelchair ramp to a porch that is 2 ft 4 inches off the ground.?
You need to build a wheelchair ramp to a porch that is 2 ft 4 inches off the ground. The ramp must have a slope of a 1 in 12. How far away from the house must the end of the ramp be?
Answer:
For every 1 unit of rise, there are 12 units of run. That's what slope means. So multiply the height by 12 to find out how long the ramp is.

Question : Does anyone know who I can contact to have a wheelchair ramp built?
I live on a fixed income due to my dissability and cant afford to pay anyone or get a loan to have one built. Any sugestions would be very helpfull.
Answer:
Contact your local Boy Scout Troop. Eagle candidates need to do a service project. They are always on the look out for appropriate tasks. This is exactly the kind of thing they like to do. The only drawback is there is some lag time, because the project needs to be approved by the BSA regional people, before the work can get started. They can fund raise and will work under trained adult supervision. You can even take some satisfaction in that you're helping some hard-working kid achieve a pretty difficult goal.
