the manufacturer of the lift should offer documentation for it. they may even offer instructer led courses where you could get training on a lift in person

Check with the installers that you are considering it will vary again by their experience and how back logged or busy they are.

( http://www.mcmobilitysystems.com ) and Ability Van Rentals ( http://www.abilityvanrentals.com ) and we recommend that customers who are concerned about fuel efficiency go with a Honda or a Toyota. Unfortunately, the additional weight of a wheelchair lift or conversion package will effect the fuel efficiency, but these two makes are probably the best solutions. Hope this helps!

Question : How can I raise $$ to fix a friend's van. He is paraplegic and needs a wheelchair lift among other things.
My friend lost the use of his legs when he was 18 and is now 35. His Ford van is trashed because he is living on a fixed income and works part time at Sam's Club. The sliding door doesn't work, the lift works part time, windshield wipers are inoperative, no heater, windows don't work etc. He drives the van through the use of hand controls.
