Light Weight Transport Wheelchair

Back saver! Car saver! This product saves your back and car from the abuse of the regular sized wheelchair. It is lightweight, folds easily, is comfortable. If you lift a regular wheelchair into your trunk you know what I am talking about because the wheels have to positioned just right to fit and it is just bulky and hard to handle. The cost is well worth it as I figured I save the scratches to my car and the wear and tear on my back. It is called a transport chair because it does not have the wheels that the person sitting in the chair can roll themselves around in but that is not needed. Thank you for the product! It has nice pockets in the back. It would tip easier and the brakes don't seem as sturdy but take precautions and enjoy!

Great alternative to big bulky wheelchairs

My husband currently needs a wheelchair, and the big, heavy one the medical supply company brought out was impossible. This was a great alternative; I can maneuver it easily, it folds up, and I can pick it up and put it in the trunk.

Absolutely fabulous purchase. It was delivered on time, easy to set up (just open the box and take it out) and at 14.8 lbs so light that it is easy to put in the trunk. The hardest thing to do was install the cup holder!

Wheelchair

My mother loves it & so does my sister. My sister is the one who has to fold it & unfold it for Mom to use. It folds & unfolds easily & is lightweight. It is easy for my mother to use also. The larger back wheels make it easier t steer, especially over yards & steeper terrain. Happy with the purchase.

Excellent choice for a transportable chair

I'm very pleased with this chair. It folds and collapses quickly, and easily fits in the back seat of a car. It is fairly lightweight, but sturdy and well made. I wish the footrests would lock in the back position as they do in the front position, but they are easily removeable - just an extra step. We had looked at many chairs, and this one is a tremendous value, dollar for dollar. The finish is high quality.

Great product for the price

Fabulous choice for transport chair

After spending many hours looking at sights for a transport chair that was sturdy, but not too heavy. I selected the Medline with hand brakes and 12 inch back wheels. The larger back wheels made the ride smoother. It is safer for my husband than the walker in some settings. This one is terrific. The hand brakes are very helpful. He said it was comfortable. It is not the lightest weight one - but is fine. It was much lighter than a regular lightweight wheelchair.
It has a pocket on the back for keys, etc. It came very quickly and was well priced compared to many others.

Great product!

Everything we were looking for and more... well made, very light weight, very portable, comfortable, and the dark-blue turned out to be a nice color. Rolls well on pavement, sidewalks, hard floors, and carpet. Easily folds up to stow in the trunk or back seat floor board. We use it to take our mothers shopping since they can longer walk for long distances.

Cons: None so far

A very rough ride!

Overall, the chair worked as advertised. And it was easy to assemble (there was basically no assembly required!).

But I have a real beef with the ride: on anything other than glass-smooth surfaces, every little bump is magnified, and every medium-sized crack or grade is potential cause for a dangerous spill!

In a nutshell: fine for indoor use; garsh-awful for any outside use whatsoever.

Medline transport wheelchair with brakes, blue a good deal

I needed a second wheelchair for mom just to transport her from the stairs to the garage. I didn't want to use her regular chair because it is used outdoors and would ruin the carpet during the winter months. this chair was perfect for the job at hand. My only dislike was the brakes because I'm used to handle breaks on the other chair but other than that this chair exceeded my expectations when it arrived. It is much more durable then the picture shows.

I had been looking for a transport chair that I could get for my mother who lives in an assisted living apartment. She depends on a walker to get around and does well with it. However, when we would go out to shop or out for dinner, she had problems with long distance walking and tired very easily. I ordered this chair and had it within a couple of days. When I took it to Mom, she was so excited and insisted on taking it for a test ride. She said she felt like she was free to go anywhere once again. A few days later we took her to a buffet. She was able to be taken up and down the isles of food to make her own choices. She felt less dependant and was very happy to be able to move about. It is much lighter to lift than her walker and folds easily to fit into my mini van. She stores her folded chair in a small storage closet in her apartment with ease. I did get a cushion to put in the chair to make sitting in it a bit more comfortable. I also ordered an extra storage bag that hung over the handles in the back, however, the hand breaks are too large to slip the loops of the bag over and we couldn't use it. I highly recommend this chair. It is strong, well constructed for larger people and the open sides of the seat do not squeeze Mom's legs and hips when she sits in it. The price of this exact chair elsewhere, was much higher. Now I need to buy a new walker for her and will most likely get it from this company.

An Excellent Purchase

We purchased this chair for our mother who needs mobility assistance. It is a wonderful transport chair. The larger rear wheels make the ride smoother. The chair folds easily. When folded, I can grasp it with one arm and place it inside or remove it from the trunk of a car. We haven't yet needed the foot supports. We use an ordinary pillow on the seat for comfort and so she can more easily sit and stand. The chair has been most helpful for doctors appointments, events, outdoor walks and indoors as needed. Although it was challenging, we even took it across a grassy field so she could pick blueberries. While the hand brakes and wheel locks work well, it shouldn't be parked on an incline. The chair fits through standard doorways and is easy to maneuver. The seatbelt is very helpful. The hand brakes, light weight and compact style make this model an excellent choice.

Full-featured and lightweight - good value

The problem with most standard wheelchairs, at 40-50 pounds each, is that they are too heavy for many people to easily lift in and out of a car. It's nearly impossible for my wife to take my mother-in-law shopping without taking someone else along to handle taking the wheelchair in and out of the car.

This transport wheelchair, on the other hand, only weighs 25 pounds. That changes the situation completely. Now they can go shopping whenever they like! The hand brakes at the top, behind the chair back, are very responsive. The footrests, like those on standard wheelchairs, can be removed if needed, and reduce the weight of the chair even further. The seat and back are strong and well-made, like the rest of the chair itself.

The only thing we don't like about this transport chair, and the reason I don't give it a 5-star rating, is the positioning of the wheel locks. They are situated in front of and above each rear wheel. Unfortunately, this requires the provider who is pushing the chair to bend over to secure or relase the locks. They are not easily reached by the person sitting in the chair itself. This is a problem common to most chairs of this type, however, and we've not seen a better design on any lightweight chair out there.

All in all, this was an excellent purchase. We got our money's worth, and paid a lot less than if we'd gone to a medical supply store.

Great value, durable and lightweight transport chair...

This transport chair was a Godsend. My ninety-year old mother has Alzheimer's and cannot walk for more than two or three steps at a time. The transport chair allows her a degree of mobility. She prefers using it as a walker--in fact, it seems more stable than her walker for use in the house.

For me, it is much lighter and easier to manuever than a larger more cumbersome wheelchair, plus it folds up and can be put in the car. I push her in the transport chair around our neighborhood both mornings and evenings, and--thus far--it has held up great. It is a cinch to fold and doesn't require much space to store.

I would reccommend this product to anyone who needs a lightweight, low-cost transport chair.

Transport Folding Lightweight Wheelchair

I never thought I'd say that I loved a wheelchair, but it is true of this one. I can lift this into the trunk of my car, wheel it down narrow aisles in stores; it easily fits in an elevator and is the right size for use in an apartment, (ex: as a dining chair, if you need something with wheels to push into a table while feeling secure that it won't roll away when someone tries to sit down). The hand brakes are convenient for the pusher; the wheel brakes can be controlled by the occupant. It's comfortable to sit in for periods of time. The foot pedals are removable, as is the strap that holds legs in place (not needed at home). Note that this chair needs to be pushed, it can't be propelled by the occupant. Steel frame color is different, but OK with elders. Transport Folding Lightweight Wheelchair with Carbon Steel Frame, Dual Handbrakes, Padded Armrests, Detachable Footrests, and Drop Back Handle.

The Product came on time as promised, Just a little cheaply built in China. Do not like the band that keeps the legs together but it
otherwise does the job. Seeing how long it will hold up is the issue.

This wheelchair is good solid quality despite the fact it is made in China. It is easy to operate without instruction. It is lightweight with a full back rest and brakes. This model supports 250 lbs. and is compact enough to pass through any door. The low price is a nice surprise. For a person with mobility issues, this is a travel deal!

Folding wheelchair

Bought this for a 3 week visit from my 81 year old mother in law. It performed admirably. It fit in the trunk of my car and was easy to fold and unfold. Very sturdy construction. The wheels squeeked when I first got it but I used some dry spray lubricant on the wheel bearings and it was totally quiet. I successfully used it to push my mother in law all over "the world" at Disney EPCOT. The hand brakes were great in helping her get out of the chair. I recommend this product if you want a portable wheelchair to take someone around. Good value for the price.

Question : Converting a manual wheelchair into a motorized one.?
I want to convert a manual wheel chair into a motorized one because it could be s cheaper than buying one.Does anyone else think so?If so, do u know where I can buy the conversion kit.I live in USA, but the kit is meant for someone overseas

Answer:
Hi Anna, I toy with wheelchair motors and controllers in my robotic hobby. The parts are cheap enough because there is an abundance of them. What happens is the insurance company [usually Medicare] will buy the power chair for someone who may never even use it. Then the person dies and the heirs want to sell it but can't get much for it because anyone that wants one will also go through insurance. So,that leaves a supply of new units for sale cheap on Ebay. That's probably the best way to get a power chair,at least if you can wait for one nearby to avoid shipping charges.

Question : How much is it to rent a manual wheelchair for a few days?
I live in Toronto Canada, and am interested in renting a wheelchair for a few days. How much would it cost and also, where should i get it? I dont care if it is used.. Thank youPS: I'm really cheap, i dont need it to be in good condition. I just need it for a short part in a film, and it does not need to go fat or anything, and it doesnt need to be very durable.

Answer:
Curt, ask at the hospital, there may be a place that has loners for you to use. That's where I got my wheel chair when I broke my ankle and I had free use of it for over 3 months.

Question : what steps would i take to check the safety of a manual wheelchair?
what steps would i take to check the safety of a manual wheelchair?

Answer:
If you are just looking for the safety of the chair. First be sure the brakes are working well. The foot rests should also be able to lift up and down easily and able to swing open. the chair should fit the person comfortably so make sure the backrests are proper the arm rests are in the right location and the person can move the wheels easily.

Question : Head/neck support in a manual wheelchair?
My elderly, invalid mother spends her waking hours in a manual wheelchair. (A basic model -- just a low canvas-like back to the thing.) I use the term "waking" liberally -- she sleeps very irregularly all through the day and night, and frequently dozes off in her chair. When she does, her head tends to loll back, and she often wakes from these "catnaps" with a stiff neck.Does anyone make some sort of attachment that can be added on to such a chair when needed? One that would provide head and neck support when she dozes? I imagine it would have to be something that would attach to the metal supports/frame on either side of the canvas back. I can picture such a device in my mind, but home-brewing one is out of the question as I am not mechanically inclined. (I barely know which end of a screwdriver to use...) Anyone ever see such an animal at a medical supply place? I've researched the Net and made a few calls and no one seems to understand what I want. Thanks!

Answer:
Yes there are wheelchair attachments that support the head and neck and different varieties too. Check here for one:http://www.necksolutions.com/headrest-wheelchair.htmlThere is another one here:http://www.medicalproductsdirect.com/whacadheandn.htmlIf they don't suit you do a general search in Google for wheelchair headrests.

Question : How does the user steer a manual wheelchair?
When using a manual wheelchair, how does the user effect turns to the left or to the right? Are there any websites that cover learning how to use a manual wheelchair -- especially this aspect of getting around? Thanks,Alley

Answer:
The user of a manual wheelchair propels it by moving the wheels. So, to go to the left, turning the right wheel while holding the left wheel still will turn you to the left.Edit to add: you can also turn the left wheel backwards, helps turn the wheelchair to the left.I hope that makes sense.

Question : Who can help me pay for the cost of my manual wheelchair?
Not asking anybody for money. Insurance is paying a part of it. I'm a fed volunteer and am not allowed to work another position. I'm looking for legitimate stop-gap grants or aid. This is a serious question from a serious person.Appreciate serious answers. Thanks.

Answer:
unfortunaley, no one. u gotta work a little over time

Question : How would you decorate the Paraplegic grooms manual wheelchair for his up coming wedding?
Or would you leave his chair as it is?

Answer:
I think I would leave it the way it is. Just clean it up so it looks nice. You don't want to call attention to the chair, you want to call attention to the bride and groom. Make sure HE looks nice.

Question : Where could I rent or buy a manual wheelchair in LA area? Thank you.?
I need the side panels would be removable.

Answer:
I need the side panels would be removable.
