Questions & Answers
Question : how do you remove a jet2 electric wheelchair seat?
i have an electric wheelchair that im trying to remove the saet from it so i can replace the batterys

Answer:
Hi Frank,I don't know but you have posted your question in the wrong category. I think you would be better off posting in home & garden - maintenance and repairs.Norm

Question : Can a drunk handicapped person, who is operating an electric wheelchair, be charged with a DUI?
I know you can get a dui on a bike or skate board, I am just curious. I just happened to see a drunk person opperating an electric wheelchair today. He was all over the place, in the bushes, in the street. I asked him if he wanted help but he said no in a drunken slur. He said his apartment complex was two miles from the bar and he would make it home in his wheelchair. Then he ran in to the curb. I got him up and going again, but he was really weaving.

Answer:
yes

Question : Anyone out there know if you can get an electric wheelchair on a pontoon boat?
I'm looking at party barges and would appreciate some first hand knowledge about the accessibility issue...being in a wheeichair myself I need some feedback on the in's an outs, do's & don'ts with party barge/pontoon boats and 300lb wheelchair not including me.So if you or someone you know has dealt with this situation please let me know...thanks.

Answer:
I agree with Tom above. Just make sure that when you do purchase a pontoon, that the deck is big enough that you will be able to move around in the wheelchair. Most pontoons are large enough to hold 12+ people, so I do not think that you will have a problem with the weight of the wheelchair.

Question : Is it proper to keep telling a person they should get an electric wheelchair?
Some people act like it is such a chore to push me in the manual chair so they want me to get an electric one. I know it is difficult, but some like pushing me, despite the hard work, so I don't think I need one. I also have problems keeping my balance in those when they stop.

Answer:
No, one should not tell this to anyone with special needs. They should respect the fact that one chooses the type of wheelchair they want or need and people should think nothing of it. Those that offer to push you (with your permission and acting) are using good manners, which is kind of like holding the door open and the like. Those that say that you should get an electric one all the time are not using good manners at all or being respectful to you.

Question : Would it be possible for someone in a wheelchair (electric scooter by Amigo) to travel to Orlando by plane?
I want to take my family to Disney World. I use this electric wheelchair (scooter) and I wonder if I could take it with me. I think it would be hard for my wife to push me around the parks in a conventional wheelchair. Do the airlines take this kind of chairs? Are the buses that take you from the airport to Disney equiped to take wheelchairs?

Answer:
Airlines will carry your electric wheelchair or scooter for you as long as it has dry cell batteries and wont leak if it falls over.Plus in the airport they will provide you with a wheelchair and assistance on and off the aircraft if you require, but you need to let them know what you require a few weeks in advance. You can get a wheelchair accessible bus from the airport to the parks / hotels, but again you need to book in advance. The also have taxis that can take a chair.Disney is great for accessablity, they have adapted rooms and all the transport have ramps and lifts, however some of the lifts are only manual chair size. You can also hire wheelchairs and scooters in the actual parks and they are pretty reasonable priced. You can't take scooters on to the rides, but if you need to be in a chiar they will give you one to use.Have fun, its a great place and they are incredibly helpful.

Question : Do electric wheelchair motors need the controller?
I'm building a tank-like robot, and i'm buying a pair of wheelchair motors. I was wondering if these motors require the motor controller that was originally on the wheelchair? I'm going to buy some controllers for the tank (that control the flow of electricity from an input signal given by the remote). Would these controllers need to be linked through the original controller or just to the motors?

Answer:
It depends what you want to achieve. For sure the motor controllers provide a great deal of things you want, but reverse engineered-it to modify it for your goal may be quite a challenge. It’s like asking do you need a transmission on a car. There are many vehicles like lawn mowers and tractors that do not have a transmission!Hope this properly answers your questionGuru

Question : Where is the best place to sell a new Electric Wheelchair in Toronto?
I also have a electronic hospital bed that I need to sell for my father, any help would be great.

Answer:
active surplus? or star classifieds maybe

Question : My electric wheelchair won't fit thru the doors at WalMart and they can't transfer me to a scooter- What to do?
Due to my weight, and girth, they can't lift me onto one of those scooters either and my wheelchair is too wide to fit through the doors. How can I go back to shopping at Wal-Mart?

Answer:
The answer is obvious, but I don't want to embarrass you or sound cruel.

Question : Best place to sell an electric wheelchair?
Where is the best place online to sell a electric wheelchair????ThanksI have tried ebay and craigslist and Kijiji.Anywhere else???

Answer:
Craigslist or eBay are your best options

Question : How do You send an electric wheelchair?
Okay well i want to sell on ebay and electric wheelchair that is brand new but how would I send it to the winner bitter? i think its to big for ups?

Answer:
I'd recommend hiring a freight shipper to box it up and move it, and pass the costs to the buyer.I'd also suggest trying to sell it locally to avoid this headache.Remember- almost anyone who needs an electric chair can get one for free or almost nothing. Most people are shocked to learn that the chair that cost $10,000+ often will go for only a few hundred bucks.
